Arrived via bus to Vientiane. It's a charming town. The French influence is visible everywhere, which means there are good bakeries (for those who can eat gluten) and lots of cafes. After finding a guest house and settling in, we headed out for dinner. Found a place just before their 2-for-1 happy hour ended. Christian got 2 big blue drinks. I treated myself to a Coke. The restaurant also offered a service of loading up albums and movies onto iPods and MP3 players for really cheap. As tempting as it was, we skipped that and went with the burgers.
