February 10, 2011 Si Phan Don, Laos (Four Thousand Islands)

Left the center of Pakse to go 8 km to the bus station on the south side of the area.  One tuk-tuk driver wanted about nine dollars to take us there, which is a ridiculous amount.  We found this motorcycle tuk-tuk guy willing to do it for less than 5.  Christian and the bags rode in the tuk-tuk and I rode side-saddle on the bike.  It was much easier to ride that way than I expected.  I felt really cool.

Bused to the area known as Si Phan Don, also known as Four Thousand Islands, a bunch of islands in a wide section on the Mekong.  This is our last, southern most stop in Laos.  First island we're staying on is Don Khong, the largest in the area.  Simple place, not much to do.  But beautiful.
